Students of Textiles and Design learn about the science and technology of textiles, the theory of design and the textiles industry from both Australian and global perspectives. Through the application of this knowledge, students develop technological and practical skills and learn to apply the creative design process from both functional and aesthetic viewpoints. These are all vital components of success for the Major Textiles Project. In Year 11, students submit two Preliminary Projects and in Year 12 students complete their Major Textiles Project that accounts for 50% of their HSC result. Students choose to design and construct an item from one of 5 focus areas:
- Apparel
- Furnishings
- Costume
- Textile Arts
- Non-apparel
At Freshwater, we are equipped with modern facilities, a wide range of equipment and materials and experienced staff who ensure students can perform to their potential in both the Preliminary and HSC courses.
