Business studies provides students with the opportunity to study theoretical and practical aspects of business operations and management in Australia and internationally.
Using a range of case studies and contemporary examples, students investigate the role of and operation of business in society and the interactions between business, government, consumers and other stakeholders.
Focus is given on students making recommendations and conducting analysis of internal and external influences on the business environment. Examination of ethical business behaviour and corporate social responsibility is also embedded into course outcomes.
The Preliminary course focuses on developing understanding of key business concepts, the features of effective management across key business functions and the challenges of business establishment and planning.
The HSC course involves a deeper exploration of key business functions including: Operations, Marketing, Finance and Human Resources. Focus is placed on the analysis of various global businesses and strategies used by management to ensure success.
