Students Take Action (STA)

Students Take Action is a group of both male and female students who look after the fundraising charities within the school. STA is coordinated by Mrs Leonard, girls supervisor and languages coordinator. Every year an outstanding group of students who think of others rather than themselves get involved in many activities to assist the local community. They meet every Thursday in the second break.

Many of the students having gained valuable team work skills by being involved in STA become involved in our Year 12 Leadership Program.

Our STA group aims to:

  • Provide for those less fortunate than us in our local community and around the world
  • Make a big differences through small contributions.

Our mission statement is:

"We reach out to our community to enrich all of our lives."

Our projects, past and present have included:

  • visiting the War Vets Retirement Village, Collaroy
  • supporting our sister school in Tanzania - Africa since 2004. Since 2005 Freshwater Senior Campus has raised $100 000 towards the establishment  and maintenance of a computer facility in a remote village school in Tanzania.
  • giving Easter and Christmas gifts to people at Mona Vale Hospital
  • supporting various other local and international charity organisations, eg  Breast Cancer Pink Ribbon, Jeans for Genes, 40 Hour Famine and Daffodil Day.

Many of our students having gained valuable team work skills and resilience by being involved in STA, and have subsequently become involved in our Year 12 Leadership Program. This involvement strongly reinforces our philosophy of Positive Psychology.
