Uniforms

When students wear a school uniform, they feel included in our school community.

Students, teachers, parents and carers, as well as members of our local community helped develop our school uniform to make sure it:

  • meets the requirements of occupational health and safety, anti-discrimination and equal opportunity legislation

  • includes items that are affordable, comfortable and made from easy-care and easy-wear fabrics

  • is appropriate for the full range of school activities

  • is suitable for all body shapes.

The Freshwater Senior Campus community has determined that all students will wear a campus uniform. The campus community fully supports a policy and set of procedures to ensure that all students comply with uniform requirements. It believes that the wearing of a uniform reflects students' commitment to the school. In accepting an offer to enrol at the campus all students acknowledge their commitment to meet campus expectations regarding the wearing of the campus uniform.

The uniform is accepted by students as being appropriate for young adults. It is comfortable, smart and flexible.

The wearing of our campus uniform:

  • engenders in students a sense of belonging and pride, that promotes self-discipline and enhances self worth. It also ensures a sense of equality for all students.
  • assists in the development and maintenance of the tone of the campus and the good conduct of the students. The wearing of a uniform assists the students in the development of skills in personal neatness, appearance, presentation, organisation and self-discipline and is an important learning experience.
  • requires students to take responsibility for wearing the campus uniform and accepting responsibility for the consequences that follow if they choose not to accept this responsibility.
  • increases security of students when travelling to and from the campus. Safety is part of the Welfare Policy for all students

Freshwater Senior Campus believes in full uniform for all students at all times.

If the student studies a practical subject with safety requirements such as Hospitality, Science or Industrial Technology - Wood, full leather shoes must be worn.

In Hospitality,  a student chef uniform must be worn during practical lessons. These uniforms will be arranged through the school in the first few weeks of Term 1.
